Special Sessions

The Program Committee of the SOLI'2008 calls for proposals for special sessions within the technical scope of the conference. Interested attendees are encouraged to propose special sessions. Each special session consists of at least five papers that provide a focused discussion of a topic and form a cohesive and complementary group in the session topic. Special sessions are not invited sessions and papers will undergo the same review process as regular conference papers (e.g., the same paper format and same submission deadlines), and accepted papers will be included in the Proceedings of IEEE/SOLI'2008, which will be indexed by ISTP and EI, and included in the IEEE Xplore.

To Special Session Organizers:

If you would like to organize a special session, please do the following steps:

1. Identify a special topic that is within the topics of interest for SOLI'2008 (please read the Call for Papers for more information), and give a title to your intended special session. Then, e-mail the information to the Special Sessions Chairs, Dr. Sudong Ye (E-mail: sdye@bjtu.edu.cn) or Dr. Wei Dai (E-mail: Wei.Dai @vu.edu.au) with your name, title and affiliation as soon as possible.
2. Contact researchers and practitioners who may be able to submit good papers consistent with the topic of your Special Session. It will be favored to form an international special session having participants from different countries.
3. Collect abstracts from authors. ¡°Abstract Submission¡± deadline will be determined by you according to your schedule, say, one or two weeks before the proposal submission deadline.
4. Write a proposal and submit it to the Special Sessions Chairs, Dr. Sudong Ye (E-mail: sdye@bjtu.edu.cn) or Dr. Wei Dai (E-mail: Wei.Dai@vu.edu.au) by 5 May, 2008, but early proposal submission is encouraged. The proposal should include the following (please refer to the Special Session Proposal Template for detail):

  • Title of the Special Session
  • Description of the special session (the motivation and goals of the session, the relevance to SOLI'2008, the significance of the related contributions, etc)
  • Title of each paper
  • Names, titles and affiliations of the Authors/Co-authors for each paper
  • Abstract of each paper

Upon approval (notified by May 25, 2008), collect all the papers for your special session (paper submission deadline is the same as regular papers), and submit a copy of the papers to the Special Session Chairs in a week. You are requested to review the papers as one of referees. The committee will arrange another referee to review the papers for your special session.

Note: Upon acceptance of papers, final camera-ready papers shall be submitted via the conference's submission system (the same system as that for regular conference papers).

For inquiry, please contact the Special Sessions Chairs, Dr. Sudong Ye (E-mail: sdye@ bjtu.edu.cn) or Dr. Wei Dai (Wei.Dai@vu.edu.au).
